Although I'm worried about it. Sometimes it has trouble starting up. Too many smudges on the cd I guess.
That's due to the fact that Infogrames standard policy is to use low grade CDs for its products.
Infrogrames has a reputation for extremely poor customer service and product quality. Of course it looks good on the bottom line, when your paying $.01 per CD and the rest of the industry is paying 10 times that to provide CDs that will always work.
so...do you improve quality/reliability by burning a copy, using a higher quality cd, like a TDK for instance?

In the past few years, there has been much development in the area of anti-piracy mechanisms. These days, corporates actually have ways to prevent you from burning their product even if you make an exact replica rawdata-wise. For example, I've read about a mechanism that does not allow the game to run if the CD it's loading from is not coated with the same material that the original CDs are. I think it can tell by the intensity of the returning signal that the drive picks up, or by the condensity of read errors returned.
Anyway, every lock has a key. Check Game Copy World, they have cracks and burning instructions per-game.
Good luck!

Yep, and I suspect the criminal(s) to be a student.
It happened in a student org. office,
and I assume the door was locked. A very odd incident indeed.
(i think i need to start some investigations)

I can forgive almost everything, but... this? ThePlaguerat, catch those bastards and shot them!
How can someone do a thing like that???
hi ,
well a good investigation should lead to the criminal , ....
change those locks plaguerat (!)
and next time put those disks in a save place , .... in a box in the fridge with the label ; biohazard , .....
If the Civ-thief really dare to join here, I will need to ask Markos to track down his IP so I can go visit the criminal some day, , and tie him to a chair and post the civ3-pics of Catharina the Great inside his glasses... So he has something really ugly to watch while I am deleting all his savegames.
I just got a copy of PTW from a freind, for Imbolc (a pagan holiday), so I need to start figuring this out....
