  • Team Lux Invicta

For all those interested, I'm starting the first official 'team' for the PTW Demo Game. With Markos establishing 'groups', it will be easy to create secure forums for each team.

There's only a couple groundrules I want to set for the team. Beyond that, everyone can coordinate how our team will be shaped. It won't be my team, it will be our team.

First, I want there to be 10 members in the team at all times. We will divide the positions (probably 5 or so) within those 10, in short terms (2 weeks or so), and then the positions will rotate, and the other 5 members will be involved in the discussion at our forum. The other five may make up the 'senate', who can veto a decision made by one of the ministers.

Second, when someone either voluntarily departs the group, or is inactive in the forum (without contacting another member in regards to his status in the team) for a period of two weeks, they will be removed from the group, and he will be replaced with a new team member, unless prior warning has been given involving the team member's absence.

    Team Principles:

There will be two main principles of this team. First, involvement. I want the team membership to be smaller to allow everyone a chance to be in the reigns of something so that everyone is involved in some way. One of the things that started to peeve me about the Civ 3 demo game was how incredibly massive it became. Forgive me, I just have something against large masses of people.

Second, diversity. This is not a group for all warmongers, or peaceniks, or anything else. I want diversity. I want you in this team because you want to win, not because you want to conquer the world, or because you want to launch the spaceship. I invite all types of players to join the team. The more diverse our group is, the more likely it is that someone may notice a pitfall we might narrowly avoid, or see an opportunity that a group of all the same type of members wouldn't see. Also, it prevents the team from getting predictable. We'll be playing against humans, not the Emperor AI. We will find challenges around every corner, let our diversity elevate us to victory!

I'm aware of that, but thanks for providing the ability for us to do this.

I'm sure it will be quite a while before the game gets going anyways.

One thing though, if you could make a PTW Demo Game forum, it would make it much easier to organize the game (just like what happened for the Civ 3 game... we have at least 30 people, which is well beyond what you wanted to start the Civ 3 Demo Game forum ).

I was thinking about that, but I decided that it would probably be a better idea to let the whole team vote on the name, rather than make the name myself. Like I said, I don't want people to see this as my team, but, like the Civ 3 Demo Game, everyone's 'team', where everyone has their place. I was thinking of a couple things, and you're welcome to give some input on what you might like.

I'd like to join. With any luck, computer malfunctions won't cause me to drop out of this demogame.

I'm liking Persia, personally. Scientific will be a huge advantage while playing against the smarter human teams, industrious is a must, and the Immortals can be a PAIN when you use them right.

Yeah, Persia would be good. Iroquois would be sweet though.

Is this the only team, or are there other teams.

I would like to get some teams formed around some of the groups that formed in our Democracy Game jsut so they could actually duke it out.

Like a Hawk team, a DIA team, an Other team, maybe a FAM team, etc.

Anyway, if we need a host with a powerful computer I'll volunteer mine unless someones got something with more umph.

My stats are a 2 Ghz Intel Pentium 5, with 768 MB RDRAM, PC800 and a 160 Gig hardrive.

No other teams, since no one seems to have started any besides myself. I really think that diversity in each team is the best way to approach any challenge in a civ game. Going war war war war war won't always be the best idea against real human strategists.
