  • Empty Boats???

I have just encountered something very unusal. I see many EMPTY triremes (4-6) pass my ground troops and my boat w/in one space. I look to see if there are any units onboard and detect nothing. This has always shown what is on boats before(AM I HIGH, did I miss something?). The OCEAN (not SEA) is far to many spaces wide to bridge units w/ triremes. I can accept defeat, however I am truely puzzled as to how this can happen so mysteriously. I was vigilant with all forms of 'Look outs' at my disposal...
I'll need some input on this one my friends.

Right-clicking on an enemy ship does not tell you if there are troops on board, if that's what you're getting at.

In Civ 3 you can't see passenger units on board an opponent's galleys (triremes are a Civ 1/2 unit, in Civ 3 they're galleys). You don't state wheter you have contact with other civs or not. If you don't then what you're seeing is barbarians - you can tell when you right click the nationality is shown. If they are other civs, you'll be given the option of contacting them.
