upgrading Units-can it be easier

Is there anyway to upgrade your units in a more timely fasion? When upgrading to infantry It took several turns in a Sim turn game. I had the funds, but using the military advisor to find the units was painful to say the least. Going from city to city wasn't any better. Any ideas???

Shift-U will give you the option to upgrade all at once.

One addendum - the upgrade all command of course only upgrades all units of that type that can be upgraded. Since to be upgraded a unit must be in a city with barracks/Sun Tzu's in effect and have the necessary strategic resources (if any) to hand for that city, units that do not satisfy all of these criteria won't be upgraded.

I'd like to see the upgrade unit command upgrade units in fortresses and airports also, along with barracks, but I don't know how to get this to work. It would probably require a patch.
