  • What about us Europeans?

I've read on the official homepage that the 1.14F patch is for US-versions only. But what about us Europeans don't we get a patch?

Does anyone know anything about this?

I don't understand. Why does Firaxis have two English versions (one for North America & one for Europe)? Wouldn't it be better to break the game down by language group rather then geographic area? I.E. All English speaking countries get the same version, German/Austrian/Swiss version, etc...

No, because then they would have to raise their averege level of QUALITY.....Why would they want to do such a thing?

Probably the same reason why there are separate versions of books and records published in the US and UK, even though the language is identical. I've also noticed, when I have the opportunity to procure them, that British versions of US albums are usually better (more bonus tracks, etc.) I have no idea why this is, and would appreciate a learned explaination from anyone here who does.

I would guess the language is different enough to make it so. There are many differences in the way we actually spell things and many words have different meanings in the US than in the UK.

But the UK and US versions use the same spelling - modern armor, for example. The reason for the different patches is because European and US copies of PTW use different copy-protection schemes.

Firaxis made one version of PTW in (American) English for sale in the USA. Infogrames decided that there should be different language versions of PTW. Infogrames also decided that the version of PTW sold in the UK (also American English) would have a different copy protection scheme than the one sold in the USA. Infogrames never bothered telling Firaxis that this was the case.
