A friend and I are playing hot seat and we just noticed that we are no longer getting the units we make. Is there a max number of units that are allowed to be in the game at one time? Any help would be appreciated.

There is one , but I don't remember how many units exactly you can have.Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Actually, I think the real question should be....
How many different types of units can there be?
How many total units can there be on the map at one time?
I asked a similar question, and Willem said he thought 256. Which I guess is how many diffent units.

I figured you meant 256 different units. I Was just confused earlier as too how you could only have 256 different units but have an icon sheet with around 1000 icons.
