  • Question About Correct Starting Positions

Sorry if this question is laughably stupid, but:

The PTW version of Marla Singer's world map doesn't come with correct starting positions, correct? Would anyone care to point me in the direction of whatever file I need to download to get no-frills correct-starting positions?

    Thank you.

Requiring that you have the 1.29f patch for civ3 or any version of PtW. Anything earlier than those don't have such scenario capabilities.

Funny... I had to do that with Marla's map over the holiday break.

Made me wish (yet again) that they'd shipped some more American civ's with PTW (Incas, Mayas, Canadiens, etc...) The darned Aztecs have pretty much all of South America to themselves, and North America is merely a contest between the Americans and the Iroquois...

... in the meantime, Europe and the Middle East is totally overcrowded...

Yes, that's true about the American civs... But what I did was just add a bunch more barbarian camps and goody huts onto the Americas, and then just left them uninhabited, so that it would be sort of a colonialism contest for the European (and possibly Asian) countries. There are a LOT of barbarians to fight, but it's a good time, and relatively realistic (native resistance, and all that).

And yes, I basically won the colonisation thing. The Greeks got New Brunswick, and the Spanish have Newfoundland, but other than that, I won!

            Good times for all.

PS: About Europe and Mid Asia being overcrowded: Yes, yes yes! All of the Euro countries made a bajillion city-states in Eastern Russia, and they're all intermixed and it's very silly and unrealistic. I was hoping for a few good wars to sort it out, but so far, there has never been a war on this earth. Ah, well, usually around the 1800s things get cooking.

            Sorry for rambling.

That's an interesting way to solve the American problem... although I still think it would be nice to have a bunch of real indigenous tribes there to compete for the land. What I did with my map (and it's not at all historically accurate, mind you), is place the Iroquois out in the Northwest, the Celts in Canada, the Aztecs in Mexico, and the Spanish in South America - seeing as how Marla's Map was made prior to PTW, and there was no sense in crowding Europe any further with the Celts and Spanish.

Again, not at all historically accurate... maybe would be better to move the French to Canada.. I dunno...

I often change the Arabs to Incas and have them on S.America. But I've moved away fom World map now as my fave Civs Babs/Carthas have rubbish starting positions.

How about the Avro Arrow? Every time you try and put it in production, your city governor changes the production queue to something else.
