Reading through these threads it has become apparent that the message on www.civ3.com posted on the 2nd December has been (not suprisingly) missed as I am sure this is not where everyone gets their patches from. It states:
PATCH - CIVILIZATION III PTW v1.14f (12-02-2002)
For the US version only and is completely incompatible with any European version.
The error that is created if the patch is applied to the Euro version is the No CD in drive error.
Now I have very successfully played turn based MP with 1.01f (straight out of the box) as long as ping times are low (green) and that all players have the same version. There were four players including me.
So the start of a successful game for us Euros involves the qualification of the joining players version, which I can asure you is a) tedious and b) initimidating for nubies.
While I understand that companies will address the needs of their biggest business market first (the U.S.) it is pretty annoying that we Euros have been dealt the bum hand ofver this festive period. Ho hum. Come on gives a patch that works for all.
