To all.
Create a system restore point from WindowsXP before experimenting with this DirectX9.
My Windows98 machine is now stuck until an update comes out from microsoft.

I've installed the update and have had no problems with it. Sure there are a few problems with MP sometimes, but they were there before I updated the DirectX component. DirectX is 100% backwards compatable(with all my games), there is no reason to avoid installing it, in my opinion.Comment

Actually, the current version of DirectX 9.0 is a BETA release....so might want to wait until the final release is hmmm, released.

Dear all,
I have been using DX9 on both XP and W98 since last post.
No problems at all on XP. Installed first time and correctly cleared the old version. I have tested with an old DX7 game and it works fine.
On the W98 it informs me that WHQL certificates are no longer checked. It did not install correctly over the old version (Old file versions left behind) so I had to clear it and reinstall clean. Having done this there are no problems.
