Is PTW worth buying once patched?

I would love to dabble in MP for Civ3, but I have heard nightmares about PTW out of the box.

However, I was wondering if anyone could say whether they think that the subsequent patches have made the game playable in MP.

Or were the critics wrong in the first place? is it good out of the box?

While there might be a physics engine that applies to the jugs, I doubt that an entire engine was written specifically for the funbags. - Cyclotron - debating the pressing issue of boobies in games.

Answer to question: YES

Out of Box MP: BAAD
Out of Box SPL Superb

Patched MP: Playable, but still needs improvements
Patches SP: Still GOOD.
