Is it just me or does the crappy diplomacy screen in MP (in my case PBEM) really suck. The PBEM games are still early so I havent used it much (so far) but the times I have used it it has been clunky to use. Theres no way to say what you want in return for your offer (tech etc) and its generally hard to tell if there has been counter-offers etc. One of the best features of MP/PBEM is the ability to take part in the complexity of human-human diplomacy rather than human-AI. We can do this via email of course, but for now we're left with a diplomacy option within the game that barely works. Firaxis, this is definitely something that needs fixing.

PtW diplomacy screen
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

While the diplomacy screen is a little lacking, I find that there is a lot of communication going on in the PBEM games (online MP with respect to this is fine IMNSHO as private chat and private voice chat is there). One thing in my games is that I know IM and/or e-mail contacts to all players before starting. There is a fair amount of back channel communication going on (usually IM) and most deals are settled there before even opening the diplomacy window with an offer.
The thing I miss is knowing what techs and resources you opponent actually has.Seemingly Benign

I've got the same thing going on. We can have good diplomacy with email but then you hit the wall in the game diplomacy screen. I may have offered another civ a tech for free! I'm not sure. We deserve better than this.We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI
