  • Regicide Loophole ?

Well, in this game it was a small map where my first intentions were just to test out regicide and get a feel for how it works. As I soon noticed it might be a tad hard to kill the AIs king as they keep about 15 of their best defensive units to protect him. So the game took a lot longer than I had hoped (9hours 15minutes 11seconds). In this screenshot, The Persians had just declared war on me (for no reason at all, just kiding) for being the strongest and being exactly 2 turns from winning the game by spacerace. They attacked, took one of my very small cities, so I in turn got all civs to go to war against them, then, I took back my city and decided to use my one-and-only ICBM... KABOOM!!! 'The Persians have been destroyed' ... hunh? wut? My ICBM killed their King and destroyed them in one shot, I can see for MP this is gonna be a MAJOR concern, yer gonna hafta hide yer king... somewhere! Maybe in a boat or something b/c no city will be safe when nukes are around. Comments?

*Just to let you know, a civ attacked me for wut I thought was no reason at all, and also, I lost 2 tanks to longbowmen, one of them didnt even get a scratch, but do you see me complaining about that? nooooo...*

No need to whine about longbowmen taking out your tanks when you've got nukes, eh?

Guess missile defense may count for something.

This is gonna get more people screaming for the ability to launch nukes in the same turn as your opponent.

          thats great.

i probably wouldnt keep my king in a city anyway.

I don't think it's a problem. First off, unless you a playing a mod Nukes are a long time coming. Second, as has been suggested, hide your king rather than keeping him in the obvious place.

I've never played Regicide, but I'd probably put the King on a boat late in the game with a big friggin' escort to keep him out of the likely list of targets for an ICBM.

Then again, I've used nukes to take out large stacks of enemy naval units before (hey, whack a few transports loaded with tanks, a carrier or two full of bombers, and some pesky battleships and destroyers, all without polluting anything - why not?), so maybe that's not the safest option...

I think the purpose of Regicide is to have a quick(er) MP game with lots of blood. I don't think nukes should enter into the equation.

I agree, but there is going to be the odd time ppl will play a hotseat game or even a long regicide game and this will happen, its good that it has been brought to everyones attention so they dont waste their time... but I suppose they could just reload if auto-save is on.

If people are putting their kings on boats and such, this would make stealing troop plans quite valuable.

Nuke wont Guarantee victory, since it randomly kills the stack of units on that square. You just happened to land on the better deal and got the leader killed. It's not exactly a 100% sure shot still though...

I'd keep my king in a city, just not the capitol (the obvious one)
