  • what's the ....

i've just receive PTW VO, as i don't know if it's an US or UK version, i'll wait to patch it but, i wonder how they (Firaxis/Infogrammes) could sell a product with such a bug:

I install it, run it, and try to load 1-2 scenario of the first scenario on the list "Ancient Mediteranean" and what happen ??? ERROR MESSAGE !

    "Load error
    Error reading file
    missing entry in "text\pediaicons.txt": ICON_BLDG_BIBLE
    the game will now exit

HOW CAN THEY SELL A GAME WITH SUCH A BIG BUG !!!

That doesn't sound like one of the typical bugs. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling yet?

I wouldn't be too surprised if the scenarios have bugs in them. Firaxis would be more concerned about the main code - scenarios could always be fixed by the user.

Patch it to 1.14f and it's work so it's a US version of Play the World... scenario "Ancient mediterranean" start, no more missing file ... but later in the game, same error with another file, the Troyan leader flc.

I can't believe that Firaxis or Infogrames didn't check if the scenarios they give with the addon have no missing files...

      i can't believe it... c'est vraiment N'IMPORTE QUOI !!

Those scenarios, i believe were put on the cd "as is" when they were sent by the creators. I think there were links either here on on civfanatics.com that had the complete downloads (some things had to be removed due to copyright concerns, IIRC)

Infogrames removed most of the artwork on the scenarios just before shipping due to copyright infringement issues.

Chances are that scenario was made pre-1.29f, when those lines weren't a requirement for new improvements. Nobody bothered to check to make sure it was compatible with the new format. It's very easy to fix if you're inclined.

It's as warpstorm said, they had to be removed due to copyright issues. It even says in the "about" box for the Ancient Mediterranean mod and the Double Your Pleasure mod, that the full versions are available for download. A hint, as of yet the Civ3.com site does NOT have them. The DYP full download is available on the other site listed, but for TAM, you'll have to search these forums. It's SOMEWHERE in the PtW forum. Hint2: the internet shortcut in the TAM folder is broken, so you can't use it.

This is not a bug, and if it was, it isn't really Infogrames' or Firaxis' fault. Just get the fixes, and be happy.

I wonder if Ming thinks it's legal to post links to sites were you can download illegal software that didn't pass the copyright legal issues at infogrames software
