  • Double Your Pleasure Scenario

Why can I not mine hills.Mtn.etc. in the DXP scenario that come with PTW? Minning was descovered and serf is the unit used.
Also why can't clans enter Mountains and Jungle?

To mine anything one needs to research Engineering (it's a medieval tech) - NOT the ancient tech of mining which only lets you SEE the mineral resources.

Clans? I presume that they're tagged as unable to enter jungle, kind of like chariots. Having played the Egyptians I seem to recall that the industrious version: shamans - can enter jungle. If you don't like it you can always edit the units properties with the editor.

      Clans

I believe clans are wheeled units in the .bic flie. I assume I just take the purple line off of that line and it will be fixed??

Yup - wheeled is what prevents a unit's entrance into mountains or jungle in the absence of roads

erm.... you're assuming that I'm in the United States (American Thanksgiving is in November, whereas Canadians Celebrate it in October) but I thank you profoundly for the sentiment and will endeavour to have a very good weekend instead

                2 questions about this scenario:
First, how do you install the patch for it so all the graphics are there? I am horrible at Windoze nonsense, and I've failed miserably in attempts to use it.

Second, how do you play it on Kal-El's World map with resources AND all 24 civs?

                  1. You should really leave the Clan as wheeled. It is an attempt to slow down initial settlement sprawl. If you are hell bent on crossing through jungles and over mountains I suggest you play as a Religious Civ. They get a special Trait Specific Unit the Shaman that can pass through these rough terrains.

You will notice that each of the traits has their own specific unit.

                  2. You can download the latest patch 1.02x from civ3.bernskov.com. Or if you join the test team at www.cdgroup.forums/tbs/civ3 you can get access to 1.03x which is in the initial test phases. If you download the .exe version all you have to do is click on it and it will unload into the proper folders.

                  3. To play on the world map with resources and 24 civs:
-a. Open the desired map .bix file
-b. import rules from the Double your Pleasure bix file
-b. distribute resources (this will give you a random resource distribution, I haven't completed the DyP resource version of the map yet)
-c. go into scenario properties and set the max players to 24
-d. go to main menu and play the world map scenario

or play regular Civ3 on one of my earth maps: 256x205; 180x180 Map; or 140x140.
For you modders out there I have released a version of the map with no resources. You can get that version Clean 180x180 here or Clean 140x140 here.

Open the editor and Select Import from the File Menu. This will open up a dialogue box which will give you 3 options. Check the rules box and hit 'ok'.

                            Import

Understood -thank you.. I notice there are a number of versions of the map 1.3 and 2.0 for earth map and 1.3 and 1.6 for other maps. I guess you should use the most advanced map.
