  • Why am I not receiving a free civilization advance per age as the Koreans?

I'm currently in a game as the Koreans. Yes, civ-specific abilities are enabled because I haven't changed the settings from the last game I played, and scientific buildings are being completed in half the time.

But i'm not getting a free advance at the start of every age. I just went into the modern age, and got no advance. I didn't get one going into the middle ages, either.

    um?

I've noticed that it doesn't always alert you. It seems like when you "era-up" by obtaining the techs you need by trade, it automatically grants you the bonus tech, but doesn't inform you of it.

For example, I just traded the Russians Currency for Construction, which gave me the full Ancient Era set. I automatically changed my research from Construction to Feudalism, and when I finished reseaching that, I noticed in my Science Advisor screen that Monotheism was already researched.
