  • Problems with GUI display, text exceeding boundaries.

    I am experiencing a wide array of text-alignment issues in both CIV3 and its expansion pack (PTW).

    In some cases (such as the diplomacy screen) the text exceeds the diplomatic box, causing the 'goodbye' option to sometimes be off screen limits.

    The mouse is not aligned properly in the game menus - I aim at 'quit' and it selects 'save', etc.

    The fonts look really messed up, partially thin and partially bold.

    I should also note the game works perfectly on a different computer.

    My comp configuration -
    AMD 1ghz,
    ASUS v7700 display adapter,
    Windows XP,
    256mb RAM,
    more than enough hd space.

    Thankful in advance,

    The Messiah (yeap, I finally got here).

    You should click on the "Smooth edges on screen fonts" tag in the windows display properties. Try that for a solution.

    Also, make sure you have the Lucinda font installed on your system.
    I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

      The civilization3.ini file in the Civilization III folder contains the following lines:

      MainFontSize=16
      InterludeFontSize=16

      I found that changing the first one to 15 solved this problem for me in Civ III games. You may want to experiment.

      Unfortunately, this has no effect on PTW games, and there is no .ini file that you can modify, at least I haven't been able to find it.
