BTW Ming do you ever just get in there and edit posts for fun. It could be hilarious especially with certain OT posters.

    C'mon you can tell me
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

Nahhhh... that would be an abuse of my powers... and I would NEVER consider doing that

*plus, there is no way I can remove the edited by ming tag at the bottom of the post, so everybody would know I did edit it*

i guess if you had access to the database and would type it right into that field, the "last modified by abc"-part could be missing

Maybe... but as most people here know, I'm not what some would consider a tech wizard... I'd probably try to do that, and wipe out half the members of the site.

          So I don't even bother

to come back on-topic, but still something for the moderators: has this thread been read by a firaxean?

Or, has anyone e-mailed anyone at Firaxis about it? SOMEBODY around here must have an e-mail address for someone there...

Firaxis knows about this. They can't do anything about copy protection issues. That is totally in Infogrames' hands.

OKaaaaay... so, somebody e-mail Infogrames, then.

By the way, WTF is an "Infograme?"

                    • I'm not sure if it was in this thread, but I posted about the bug I was having with starting the game (it could take 3 tries). Anyway, I finally switched it over to a CD-ROM from a CD-R (I didnt switch because of the hassle we had before with the copy protection blocking starts from drives with different letters). I didnt have that problem and now starts every time and is quite fast to load.

Hmmm, it could be may same trouble, because I own a notebook with a Combo drive (DVD+CD+CD RW). Every time I burn a CD-R or rewrite a CD-RW I must shutdown the whole machine (Win XP home + Nero InCD) before I have a chance to start a Civ III game.
                        What a silly problem...

                        • I think it is related to the copy protection so I mentioned it here.

                          • I patched it yesterday (which got rid of the nocd patch), and now it seems to load fine in several tries, though slower than if i had a no cd patch (of course). I doubt I'll apply another no cd patch soon.
