  • Bug? Resource Depletion

    I've been trying hard to avoid letting early PTW game impressions lead me towards conclusions about AI tweaks in PTW. But, after several SP games, I hafta ask, anyone else experiencing non-depleting resources?

    I've played several games of SP PTW, and, after having just a tickle of resource weirdness in the first coupla games, I have specifically watched for resource depletion in my 2 most recent games -- iron, coal, even oil and uranium never seems to deplete for me (the PTW editor still has depletion values for the resources).

    Am I experiencing an unusual RNG string, or is there something wrong with resource depletion?

      * bump *

      Seriously, can anyone confirm that I've had a weird string of luck. Two complete PTW games, standard maps, played out to late industrial / early modern. No resource depletions. I assume that nothing has changed and I've just gotten a weird string of luck since the editor still has depletion rates.

      I guessing any number of people can easily post: "Yes, they deplete. I just lost my iron," etc.

      Thanks,

        I lost Iron in my game last night, luckily I had more. It must just be one of those wierd coincidences in your games.

          Thanks - I was pretty sure it was just a weird run, but after two full games of watching closely, I was getting more and more intrigued.

            Lately I have been getting the "this iron source is depleted" message followed by "a new source of iron has been discovered". This happens in the exact same spot. This has happened about four times so far with iron and once with coal. It always happens after I've hit the industrial age. Never had it happen with an earlier depletion. At least I dont have to link up with the new source

              I recently had a game in which there was no Aluminium *anywhere* on the map.

              In the same game, global warming did not occur, even though I (purposely) polluted to try and make it happen.

                No! Are you using PTW with the 1.04f patch? This used to happen to me with the 1.17f patch, but it went away with later patches. Please don't tell it's broken again... I for one want the added challenge of dealing with resource depletion.

                  Happens all the time.

                  In fact, IIRC on CFC there was a weird theory about that. The poster claimed, it had something to do with the brand of processor. He said it would influence/determine the RNG.

                  I think it's highly doubtfull myself. Still, it certainly makes a good urban myth
