  • PtW changed civ starting locations?

i just tried out few games with ptw, and it seems im starting very close to other civs every game. for example, i build my first city and about 5 turns later i see that right above me by just few tiles is another civ and right below is another one. it wasnt this bad in civ3. im on normal map size and default # of civs for the size. how can i make civs start out further apart? this makes diety games very hard because i am surrounded quickly by other civs before i can even make my first settler.

Gen up some civ3 maps and some ptw maps and compare them to see.

      Culturally Linked Starting locations?

Maybe having that preference clicked when you start the game does something like this.? I know its suppsed to put the cultures that in reality your civ would on encountered closer to you, but not sure HOW close...

If you're playing 70% or 80% water, you're sure to get a couple of nearby civs unless your start position is on a tiny island.

Under Deity, each rival gets double production plus an extra Settler to start. I bet what you're seeing isn't anything different from Deity under 1.29f.

You can change the spacing of civs in the editor. I haven't played with that factor, though, so I don't have any recommendations.
