  • one of my favourite PTW features

okay, this may be pretty stupid to many, but the feature i like the most about PTW is the naming feature

yay! i can finally name my units!

i change the names like from the 1st Infantry to whatever, for example. Give names to my ships and so on.... sometimes, i modify the names base on what role i am using the unit... like the 1st Recon, 12th Garrison, and etc....

i know i would probably not be able to do this on multiplayer, as it would take to much time... but i love it! gives flavour to my game, lol

i always wanted such a feature and the original Civ3 was close to do that by renaming super elite units which as spawned leaders

Good to hear positive things! It's just...refreshing...! Now, if you only could name the mountains, lakes, forests(as long as there is any) and so on...

I love this feature as well. Having a unit named "2nd Division" makes it seem like a real army than a single dufus marching around the map.

Naming tiles/terrain features would surely be nice! But I look forward to using this feature as well as most of the rest of PTW.
Now if they could just make it release faster.
        I can hardly wait.

        Sigh.

        Double sigh...

also helps keep track of units better and what i am planning to do with them...

if we can name units in multi without wasting to much time, we can scare some people by landing a unit called the 2456th Armor Division... theres plenty more where that came from

or name nukes..Nuke for Lincoln, Nuke for Elizabeth, Nuke for Ghengis, etc....

one can have so much fun with this feature, lol

yes, would of been cool to have naming landmarks feature from SMAC/X as well. I can just see its use in multiplayer..... My Mountain, Not Yours.... Land of the stupid... Nuclear Alley... etc...

I think I like this. One of the joys of CIV2 was naming your tribe and leader. I often played as Brüssel Kohl of the Preussians or Cunnulingus of the Perversians, with matching city names of course. I just found out how to name my tribe and leader in CIV3 (still haven't tried it). Now naming units - thats cool!

You could call one of your riflemen Bert or Sid.

I really dig the unit naming feature, too.

I am not sure who was there first, but Woody Allen used that name in Everything you ever wanted to know about sex. I am fairly sure it was out before Life of Brian. It most likely goes way back before either. Still funny though.

                              Yup, naming rocks!

but you could name terrain in SMAC, I wonder why not in civ3?
