'TouchSense in Civilization III: Play the World Expansion
You loved the single-player strategy of Sid Meier's Civ3, even without TouchSense. Now with the Play the World expansion pack, you can enjoy both single and multiplayer with TouchSense sensations. Firaxis and Infogrames have added in sensations for all menus and advisor screens. You'll even be able to feel unit movements and buildings in city views. Get ready for the fun.'

Does Queen Elizabeth reach out of the monitor and punch you in the face too?

my powers of deduction are not very good at 3:15 am, after a long night of civ'in

I didn't reallize there were force feedback mice. hmm. course, I don't play FPS anymore, which is what I suppose they would be for primarily. I can't see myself geting one of those to feel the catapults or arty;s in civ3

The more I read about touchsense, the less I understand what it is.

Touch sense is really good. It helps differentiate diffrent points in windows by giving you a sensation of changing terrain. I think it will be most useful in the diplomacy screen where you have close options. Touch sense will help you keep from giving some gifts away.

I have a logitech touchsense mouse. It's simply a force feedback device in the mouse that "bumps" when you move the cursor over something in the touchsense-enabled game. One of the games that used this was Black & White...so, for example, you moved your mouse over your creature, the mouse would vibrate slightly and rapidly to simulate touching fur. It's a novelty, and I think the force feedback mice are like 5 dollars over the price of a normal mouse, so it's up to you whether it's worth it or not.

Bah, i'll never understand this. Anymore then that rumble pack thing or force feedback. So it vibrates a little when something happens, always annoyed me more then it helped. Just me, I guess.

I think that article was having us on actually. They're taking the mickey out of all this gimmicky technology. Such a thing, if implemented, wouldn't really enhance gameplay would it?
