The game developer appear to be stupid. They make PATCH payware. PATCH. It's stupidest thing that i heard OK and even if payware the PATCH mustnt cost more than 5$
The development team put an extra year into making patches for the game. Guess where that money comes from? Not from sales, it comes from their pockets. In addition, Multi-player is an expansion on the original game, therefore it is in an expansion pack, with some extra stuff added along with it. If you don't like that, then don't buy games from Infogrames again, because they're so greedy they actually want to make more money than they spend.

I guess that to some people the initial investment of $50 is just too much money that they can't understand how another $30 might be justified...but come on now...
Here's some entertainment time examples....
Hours of a couple complete games of Civ III SP
...say about 20 hours...
Cost (with PTW) $80
20 hours at an amusement park (two days)
Cost $80 + food and drink...
20 hours at a movie theatre (10 shows)
Cost $100
20 hours at a night club or bar (say 5-6 visits, 2-3 cover charges)
Cost $200 minimum...probably more like $300
There are plenty of ways to blow cash, at least this way, once you have the game...your done. The mere three things I mentioned have no "replayability" without more money...
And just think of all the money you're saving by sabotaging your relationships, denying yourself nourishment, and limiting those trips to the bar....
In conclusion, the point was made already...little more than one hour of m job pays for the expansion. The time to do it myself....I don't even want to think of it...

I don't understand where you are paying to download the patch. I never payed for it. If its from Gamespot, then the charge is for all their reviews and such. I go to http://www.civ3.com/ and it directs one to where one can download it.
Don't know what you mean!
There is quite a few different ways to play multi-player in the expansion pack and various graphics sets and quite a bit else.

Actually I was trying to get tech out of him, but he was still working on "Game Player's Code" in 2002 ad.
