I've been a big fan of the Civ series for years now but have no experience with online multiplayer gaming on the level that Play the World is gonna offer. How are the multiplayer arenas to be set up? Is it gonna be a pay site or free? Is it gonna require installation/registration with a third party company or is the official Civ3 site gonna be a host? I'm looking forward to it nonetheless but any info anyone could give would be appreciated.

online format for multiplayer question
"The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country." -- Abraham Lincoln
"Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever, in flesh and blood, walked upon this earth." -- Albert Einstein, in regards to Mohandis GandhiTags: None

In my preview, you can see the lobby.
It's extremely user-friendly and easy to set up.
From the main menu, you click "Multiplayer".
If you're playing hotseat or PBEM, you click Host, and set it up from there.
Otherwise, you're taken to a battle.net type of chat room, with listed servers running games.
You can Join or Host a game, and set it up.
It's all very very intuitive.

The following is a shameless plug:
I am currently working to reestablish GameLeague for Civ3. The site will offer ladders, tournaments, and Tribe (Clan) play for PtW. The current plan is for there to be for a free membership option and a pay membership option. You can keep up to date on the current process by pointing your browser to http://www.megaultra.com (although there isn’t much there yet). Look for more updates in the coming week.
