  • How many players can join?

Does anyone know how many players can join in a MP game? From one screenshot from the UGO preview there where only 8 slots in the game setup. I have always hoped for atleast 8 human players and 8 AI, total 16 nations in a game.

8 nations on a huge map will be too few I think.

I've heard 8 PLAYERS per game, but nothing about how many AI you can have. The multiplayer setup screens look like you can't have more than 8 PLAYERS/AI, so guess that's the way it will be.

Mike Beer has said before that there will be a limit of 8 players total in MP games. A player can be either human or AI. At the time he wrote it (a while ago now), he wasn't sure which gameplay modes the AI would be available for.

Hmm, abit confusing... It seems that you could be 16 players over internet (from the UGO preview screenshots). Maybe it's 8 players max for a turnless game.

Yes according to this screen up to 16 people can join but that seems to be for turnless which we know is for human players only, maybe it's just for testing or maybe you can only have 8 humans or 8 players total for the other modes except turnless.

perhaps player numbers differs just like in SP where map size is concerned.... If you don't want 16 players in large map you can still close the slots, so I am theorizing that there really is no limit other than your discretion. More people will slow down the game both play wise and systemwise, but there should be no holding off people who would want to try it...
