  • Do the guys at Firaxis hate the Mongols?

I mean , it's outrageous . Their leader will surely be the mockery of gamers for ages to come. I some how got used to the Idea that the Khan looks like a log of wood , But to dress him in those glowing pink clothes in the modern era, as if he was some kind of pimp , That's terrible!

( Thanks in advance to Ixnay for the collection of ugly doll faces )

There was a very long thread about Firaxis' caricature of Genghis when the first picture of him came out. I was hopefull that in later eras, at least, Khan would appear more professional (as he obviously was). I am in favour of accurate portrayals and I would understand if Khan looks poor, dirty, even ugly. But the pictures from Firaxis are of juvenile foolishness. Khan should not be the Jar Jar of Civ3.

Oh, come on. What do you want the guy to look like? The nice little old man of 15th Century Chinese illustration? The guy lived in pig fat for half a year, in a tent made of furs coated with dried animal urine. He was no looker, he was a rugged little guy, and he wasn't cute in the least. What would you expect him to look like? The Firaxis picture is fine as it is, if you don't like it, create another one, or simply don't buy the game.

Tassadar--- Old man...all I can say is...HYPOCRACY! Err...sorry about that...

Anyway, if you want an accurate portrayl, the Firaxis version is more accurate than the kind little old man of 15th Century Chinese illustration. Anyone who thinks otherwise must be a bit silly.

So? I'd rather have a 15th Century Chinese Illustration than a Khan on crack.

Alright. Then the accurate portrayal goes out the window. (And yeah. I could tell...sorta...)

i'm highly interested in history, but when a computer game messes with other people's history i cant be interested that much to go out and protest or refuse to buy

                          from chinapage.org

For realism, this is much closer to what Khan looked like:

And all those portraits of rulers down through the ages with nary a gimp among them? All accurate. Right?

NYE, I have much more faith in scholars who have actually studied the region than a bunch of white boys in Maryland. There is no historical basis for Firaxis' picture. Look at the people in the region today, they look nothing like that.
