I would like it if there was an option to turn off the trading of contact. This would make some of my games more realistic.

There is no option nor should there be.

      Why?

Contact is a part of the game, they could, however, make it more valuable.

I don't think you understand that I would like to have the option to remove the trading of contact like in Civ I and Civ II. Is would keep geographicly isolated civs isolated in a Guns, Gems, and Steel fashion, as it is realistic and might make the game more fun.

It's very easy to do. Just mod Writing to not give you this ability or give it to a later tech (say Navigation, for example).

I played a fun mod where map trading was deferred to Navigation and contact trading was deferred to Nationilism. This slowed tech growth a lot as well as making exploration valuable. I didn't have a complete map of the world until the Industrial Era (usually you get one the minute a galley or caravel makes it to the other continent). In fact, I didn't have a good map of the interior of my continent till then.

never mind, i didn't realize it could already be changed in the editor. I changed mine to nationalism, thanks WarpStorm.
