Since PTW would have MP capabilities, should there be rules and conducts to enhance the games rather than have the monotonious play of the A.I.? If there is, I like to donate a few ideas in developing this system:
Barn Door Policy: if you do something bad towards another player's Civ, other can do the same thing to your Civ. For example, you destroyed a Civ with nuclear weapons, you can't ***** about it, or impose sanctions, when someone else launches nukes on you.
Unauthorized Incursions: If one of your units makes an unauthorized incursion, the offended player can impose a fine for each unit in this fiendish act. Of course you don't HAVE to pay it, but prepare to lose trade benfits or commit to war. The fine must be reasonable, no chance of getting 1 million gp in the ancient age.
Culture Flipping: If a city flips and the player accepts it, the previous owner can ask for it back. Of course, the new owner can refuse, then of course, the previous owner can go to war for it.
Instead of going to war when spy actions go awry, the offended player can impose a fine to continue good relationship. If a tech was stolen and the action was discovered, the offended player can demand for the offending civ to pay the full amount, without the need for war unless the offending civ refuses to pay.
Total and limited war: Players can agree to limited war, as in previous posts, fighting over a certain area. Of course, this can explode into total war, which is everything goes, but remember the barn door policy.
Abandoning Cities: If Towns are razed or abandoned after capture, it sould not have much hit on your reputation, but Cities and Metropolis should not be wiped out without a huge hit on your rep.
