  • government idea!

One of the few things I liked about the ctp games, was the ability to quickly compare the different governmets

Wouldn't it be a good idea to have this in PTW?

Though I guess, for it to be usefull, we need more governments, but I guess most people will agree, there need to be more governments in the game anyway...

For those who don't know/remember it, I'll try to explain in a picture (Hope you understand):

To bad I don't have ctp installed, otherwise I could post the picture from there, but if someone here has it installed, it would be nice if if that "someone" would post a screen of it

Any ideas for more governments? We so need Fascism, in fact I added it to SnuggsCiv. Fundamentalism I don't really miss. How about 'Junta' or 'Partial Democracy' or 'Feudal Republic'?

I'd also like it to be more obvious what your rivals ideologies were at any one time.

      Isn't a "Partial Democracy" a Republic?

Fair enough. As I suppose would describe some merchant entity like medieval Venice or Novgorod.

I liked it in Alpha Centauri when your rivals attitude was dictated more by ideology.

The only problem with that is, that the same people will always like/dislike you in every game, because most people follow the same ideology every game, just as the AI does according to their aversions. Unless you did what I did and randomized agendas, but if you do that, they don't play to their strengths. But it's not fun having the believers have a 24/7 vendetta against you every game because you follow the knowledge path

How about government that evolve. The Magna Carta didn't make England into a constitutional monarchy overnight.

I think Civ3 needs to reflect this shift...

But a chart like the one above would certainly be useful if there were more governments.

EDIT- I've really got to spell check these things before I hit submit
They're coming to take me away, ha ha...

Well, at least they let us add governments. But I like lots of governments too. I think the only one that they are really missing in the standard version of the game is Fascism. But they'll never put that in cuz it's not PC.

Either is Despotism & Stalinist Communism, but they're in there.

Screw PC. They should add more governments, since there are only 5! And 2 of them already suck(despotism, and communism). They should add an upgrade to despostism, it would be known as Dictatorship(covers a large spectrum). Then improve communism, somehow in an orginal method. Perhaps even better spies(which suck too) or stealing military secrets.
Without free enterprise Civ 3 would not exist......

Well, CTP had both Fascism and the Brownshirts and I didn't notice it being burnt in the streets, at least not for those reasons.

Communism isn't much kop. I must say, though, I never deviate from the knowledge/commerce strategy in my games so the need to support huge armies and use martial law rarely comes up.

Rumours say that Fundamentalism didn't make it into Civ 3 because of Nine-Eleven. Is that true?

The decisive properties of governments are:
                        Corruption
                        Productivity
                        Unit support
                        Hurry type and
                        War weariness.
Science maximum, Draft limit, Work rate, Military police, Diplomatic skill, Diplomatic immunities and Assimilation rate have also got some influence.

One could make up categories like Diplomacy, Economy, Military and so on and rate the governments' properties. Let's say that a government with Minimal corruption and 150% work rate get an "Excellent" economic rate, while one with Rampant corruption and 50% work rate will have a "Poor" economic rate.
The difference between industrial society and information society:
In an industrial society you take a shower when you have come home from work.
In an information society you take a shower before leaving for work.
