  • Historical Events?

I for one am all for making the game "Historically accurate". Just think of the possibilities. If American makes any kind of treaty with the Iroquis, it will immediatly be broken within 10 turns. Anytime someone attacks France, the "We are approaching your cities, surrender now" option will actually work! And whenever Russia builds a nuclear reactor, it has a 80% chance of exploding! I think it could add a lot of fun to game. I'm sure we can come up with something for the other civs. Anyone?

Well, I like the idea of historical events, just not these once....Like England should stay a monarchy for most of the game...Germany should be very weak in the middle ages to represent the german states in thet time...US shouldn't exist and should revolt from England later in the game...I think it can add a lot to the game

"Historical" and "Firaxis" are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE terms.

If this were implemented, you could expect not to be able to deal with most, if not all of the civs in the game.

I do enjoy historical accuracy myself. However, in the game, it would require following a script you couldn't deviate from: imagine Babylon still being around by 1600 AD as a major power?

Have to remember Civilization is not supposed to recreate history
Anyway at the end of the industrial age Germany declares war on everybody.

Okay, then to go along with this joke, how 'bout any time you attack Russia, a message pops up saying "We are sorry sire, the Russian winter has given our troops frostbite and they have died without even seeing a fight."

Then everybody would be playing Russia!

Um.....How about in 2002 if your America, all civs that were Polite-Gracious become furious and all civs Furious-Cautious declare war?

What do you expect? They're a gaming company not the museum of history

Anyway, its the scenarios that are historical - and after eight months of waiting comes...

                          Patch 1.29!!!
"Show me a man or a woman alone and I'll show you a saint. Give me two and they'll fall in love. Give me three and they'll invent the charming thing we call 'society'. Give me four and they'll build a pyramid. Give me five and they'll make one an outcast. Give me six and they'll reinvent prejudice. Give me seven and in seven years they'll reinvent warfare. Man may have been made in the image of God, but human society was made in the image of His opposite number, and is always trying to get back home." - Glen Bateman, The Stand (Stephen King)
