Do you remember, Firaxians said there "might" eventually be another add on to Civ 3. Wouldn't be bad, you can always improve the game. Not by huge steps, so that it would be a sequel, but by minor ones rather, so that it would be an expansion.

Again, I must repeat that sometimes you feel Civ 3 misses the "touch of Sid". Just why didn't he work on the game? If so, a few weaknesses of it would certainly be gone.

Anyone here having actual positive expectations to this?

I personally thin PTW is going to be very good
        and well worth the money

And no, I'm not on any FIRAXIAN paylist

For being so early on, I am quite surprised at how warmly Firaxis has embraced the idea of a second XP. Even going to so far as to suggest that the Hebrews won't be in PTW but probably will be in the next XP. So if I were a betting man, I would bet firmly on another XP being released at some point.

Perhaps the plan is to release XP without future eras, and then later release a future era add on. That would put Civ3 back into the headlines and give flagging sales of XP a boost.

Seems the logical strategy - it would generate maximum dosh.

Also, Firaxis hasn't confirmed that eras can be modded. I'm half expecting that it will be very difficult to create worth while future scenarios with the new editor.

Yeah, the editor that they are so proud of isn't as flexible as those Civ2 text files...they hardcode too much into games these days.
