Re: Options to quit, or keep playing

How about this. When you reach the end point (2050, Launch of space ship to AC, Cultural, etc) The game should give us options to quit/retire or keep playing like Civ II did. I realy did not like being forced to retire at 2050 when I want to conqure the Civ world.
that would be nice , especially because some people sometimes only start to get to their "height" , ....

Yes, Firaxis really does need to add a modifiable ending date into at least inside the game. It should be easy as well, I mean if Gramphos can do it (No insult intended to Gramphos, of course) then Firaxis should be able to add it, with ease.
This is absoleutly essential to scenarios as stated in earlier posts. It would be a very bad move on Firaxis' part to not include this, it's been a major annoyances to a huge amount of players.Eventis is the only refuge of the spammer. Join us now.

Really, don't mistake two things. Time increments, like a turn = week, or so for scenarios, takes some coding. However, just exposing the end date is very little coding involved.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

they should do the "end" , and included an option that lets you play with months , ...and then weeks is only a small step , ..

Sadly, apparently changing the time increments is out.
The only why to truly fix problems like this is to include a scripting language like CTP2.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

CtP 2 is far superior to Civ 3 as far as modification goes, due to scripting and everything exposed in text files. Civ 3 is, however, far superior as a game.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

That my friend is a subjective judgement call. I like them both but since I primarially play MP and senerios I find myself playing CTP2 much more then Civ3.
Perhaphs PtW will change this and perhaphs not.
Either way I hope the out of the box version version of PtW is better sorted then the intial release of civ3 was...Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

I know it's subjective, and it's a long discussion either way, but I've always disliked scenarios.
I too hope they won't hurry with PtW. Out of box Civ 3 wasn't too good, the first patch was needed badly, and still, some mod tweaks make it better.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

Want a 30 years war scenario? You should be able to just key in 1618 as a start and 1648 as the end (though you really might want to put a few years extra on either end, but you get the picture . . . ).
Not only that, but then choose turns by 1: mutli-year, 2: year, 3: season, 4: month, 5: week and perhaps even 6: day. Would be nice if it then showed you how many turns your three choices (start, end, & interval) would generate; 30 years war by season; 120 turns, by month; 360 turns etc./Cesa

You see, Panag, I've tried actually lots of scenarios for Civ 2, but almost always, I didn't find myself actually having fun. I want a standard game. The only scenarios I can truly enjoy are those based on very well-known historical events, like WW 2.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator
