If only it were that easy. Don't you think they would have released the expansion months ago, if it were?
We are getting a lot for this expansion pack. 10 scenarios, 2 new unit sets (prolly around 15-20 units in each) and multiplayer along with some things which people say 'should have been in the original'. I'd say its worth the money.

Unlike civ3, I'll wait and see whats in it and what everyone thinks of it. If the reviews here are mediocre I'll wait till the price drops. The most meningful way to deal with this issue is to use discretion when purchasing games. There are at least 2 or 3 other big games I'm interested in this summer so its no big deal for me to wait.

No they woudn't release it, Firaxis wanted to see how well the game reacted to the general public. And for US to work out the bugs. There have been many posts about PtW code within Civ3.
I'm sure they have the full version on their computers. Civ3 that was shipped version is in my eyes, a very crippled PtW. They just deleted the basic stuff in PtW from Civ3, and decided they can make more money with an XP. Nothing wrong with that, don't get me wrong. But it's only an XP, not Civ4.
I drink to one other, and may that other be he, to drink to another, and may that other be me!
I think everyone knows that most of the people here are going to buy the PTW XP whatever the price is. The fact that you guys (myself included) all come here and talk about Civ3 means that we're into it enough that when the time comes we'll be too curious not to buy it.
Lets just face that reality and move on.
The fact is, that for all the flaws we find, we're the minority. Most of the people I know who play think its a great game. I do too.
My nickname in the PTW matchmaking system is Psygnosis.
