  • At This Point How Do You Plan on Playing the XP?

EDIT: Title should read: " At This Point, How Do You Plan on Getting Ahold of the XP "

The answer to that for me would be willingly pay for it soon after release, even though, I was/am very dissapointed with the first release of Civ3.

Post your justifications to your answer, as well, please.

However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

I'll buy it for the civs (could care less about MP). So unless they completely fail on their civ choices, I'll be willing to buy it.

not to play it of course, but to playtest so that I can have a frame of reference for my future complaints....

The only reason I would buy it is if the Civ2 multiplayer community shifted to civ 3 - and I don't see that happening.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

we (my close friends and i) actually planned our first game a while back (and you can probably find the thread discussing it) in which we were going to play the world map as Russia, Egypt, France, and China. we have a 5th who didnt buy civ3 (b/c of no MP) but i'm sure he'll buy the "chest" they'll most likely throw at the consumer, and play as the Zulu or something

but then again they still havent given us starting positions.

The main thing that interest me in the expansion is the editor, that should have been included in the first game. As I don't like to pay twice for the same product, I'll happily and without remorse pirate it.
If it happens that the other additions of the expansion prove themselves to be worth an expansion, THEN I will buy it.

Pretty much second Akka's view. I don't want to play the game in its present form either solo or with others and new civs or little gimmicks won't change that. If you need the XP to get a proper editor and play other peoples scenarios then I will probably download it or buy it once it hits the bargain bin.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

I'll get some reviews, read what people have to say about it here, then buy it anyway.

I'm going to wait until atleast the first post XP release patch to _possibly_ buy it. My beta testing of Civ III from the begining has left me with a very bad taste in my mouth when all things Civ are concerned. I haven't even played the last two patches because of this bad taste. I might just pick up and play the most recent patch, depending on what I read from the community.

reluctantly pay, NOT angrily. These are very different and should be two separate options

Even though I downloaded most of my games, for the good ones (or those that I believe to be good) I will actually pay for. Civ3 was one of those that I believed to be good. It proved otherwise. For this reason, I will never pay for the XP even it is selling for $0.01. I feel I deserve to get this thing for free. It is what the game should have been. They cannot charge me twice for 1 game. I don't call this pirating. It's simply making things fair.

You are a reason why you have to have a _cracked_ version to play on your laptop. And why there are pressures to legislate these protections (which Gov really shouldn't even get involed)! If I want to have it (and I'll wait a while before I do) then I'll buy it. I'll look at my finacial outlook at the time (which by the way, is influanced by your pirateing) and decide if I can afford it. If I want it, but can't afford it, then you and your ilk are to blame, not the Corporations! Because they have to pay to try different ways to try to get you from pirateing it, that I (and others, even ultimately you too) have to pay more for it!

Why don't you go back and play with your kiddy freinds and let some adults have a ree exchange of ideas without you. Because Pirateing is VERY CHILDISH, and I wouldn't be suprised if you are under 15!

                            [/RANT]

I'll still wait for the XP patched before purchasing it.

Other: Same as one, but with change in time from soon after to as soon as the cricumstances* allows.

                              * As soon as it is releasedf AND I have access to a computer I can play Civ3 on. (I'll have to leave my home computer for a while, and I believe it will be released while I don't have the facilities to play it.)
