Does this order of lay look right

        anatolia
        cerebrus
        trickey (newfie?)
        spencer
        Imtoops

I'm not sure where stswf is

Do you want to try delmars trick of starting three games -you play one turn and score your start site from 0-10 and we continue the game with the best average score and least variance?

I prefer to just take whatever starting point I'm given. I would rather have a bad starting point and work from that than have a good starting point but then lose it when the game is restarted.

Depends on how extreme a map we go for. I don't mind arid. If we use normal climate and 4 billion age I would be happy just to play whatever starting position I get but if more extreme map settings are used then a chance to restart might be sensible.

If StSwf is in that makes six of us so we could go for a small map with early contact and probably ancient era wars or a standard map with more room to expand and develop and likely wars a bit later. I don't mind which but it may be an issue for players with later UU's.

EDIT: Trickey, when you start the game could you give it a title and start a new thread for turn posts please (makes it a bit easier to track which game is which if you are in more than one).

Since you can '0' score a game it kinda eliminates that start unless everyone else loves it. Thats what happened in my game, my gave my start a 6 or 7 and everyone else gave theirs 10 so thats what we played.

Newfoundland is 30 minutes ahead of everyone else - it gives us an edge over other Canadians. Of course, we obviously haven't taken advantage of it.
I'm okay with scoring up to three starts - in a game that will last a couple of years I suppose waiting a few extra days for the real start of the game is no big deal.

Oh yes, TV. Newfoundland doesn't have its own 'TV Timezone' so shows programmed for say 9:00 in Eastern Canada will be seen at 9:30 in Newfoundland.

It doesnt really take any longer. After all you're just opening them up and making sure you arent surrounded by mountains (as one of the players was with the original game).

Do we have a consensus on map settings yet?
