He ranks the civs in 5 tiers from best to worst. There are four civs in tier 5 - the worst - all are in our game. india is tier 4. The Mongols are tier 3.
So - you wanna give up now? Or do we really have to play this out???
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

Yep, read it. The author is quite knowledgeable, I'd say. However, you must have noticed that he stated than in hands of a skilled player even low-ranked civs may be fine... just that in hands of a skilled player, higher-ranked civs will be even better...
Anyone here NOT feeling skilled?
I wouldn't say so, as otherwise we wouldn't have chosen all Tier 5 civs!
just a reminder for myself. I have to go to work. I will start the game when I get home. good luck.

Just in case anyone thinks Betahound paid me off to give him the Mongols I have tried them a couple of times in SP. Expansionist relies on identifying chokepoints before other civs and getting more goody huts. There are three expansionist civs in this game so it might give perhaps four extra goody huts. You might get a unit, a settler and two techs and be off to a great start or you might get 50 gold and a couple of maps and be nowhere, or even find youself on an island. Militaristic is good though.
Keshiks are the weakest knight based UU. Lowest defense value and not fast enough to ride around defenders (unlike Ansars). Personally I would be confident of doing serious damage to a horde of attacking Keshiks with nothing more than horsemen that cost half the shields to produce. (Don't hold me to this )
Actually I was running out of non-militaristic, non-industrious civs with poor UU's so I had reached the point of having to give something away. I nearly gave Betahound the Greeks but played them recently and found that Hoplites give quite a degree of invulnerability in the Ancient era.
Cerberus - any other advice you want to share. I have never played them. Guess I better scramble up a SP game and give them a try.
And dam. I really like the Greeks. Traits aren't wonderful, but I think Hoplites are great for anchoring your defense in the early game. Guarantees you a certain invincibility - or - makes you the first target.
Well, I have my Mongrels - er - I mean Mongols. I promise to play nice.
Any suggestions for Diss about the name of the game - How about - "Going to the Dogs."
If you agree, I will e-mail him to make sure he gets it.
