    Deal with cheaters?

Over at the lively CivII PBEM forum, as well as at CFC, there has been a recent backlash at the constant threat of cheating. Articles are being written in the Scenario League Magazine and everything. Since there are so many ways to alter a civII game, as well I assume a civIII game, how have you caught your cheaters and whats the (if any) consensus on what you do with them.

I dont know how much of a community consensus there is over something like this for CivIII. But we've been attempting to hammer one out over at our place. Feel free to stop by, you'll see the cheating thread, plus the blacklist.

Well, not yet. No one had the chance to do it.

It's good to see your blacklist is small. One can only hope ours is smaller or better yet, empty.

well we just cross our fingers and hope it doesn't happen.

Of course if we lose we will still whine and complain and call the winner a cheater.

In CTP PBEM, we assign a moderator, who gets a copy of all turns from all players.

If a player complains - suspect another player is cheating - the moderator will (in most circumstances) be able to see, if there is a fire below the smoke.

Another job of the moderator is to keep up the speed - eventually by nexting a player, who do not play within 24 hours or so - unless there is an reasonable excuse for not doing it, and the reason is known to the moderator.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.
