correction, on the Firaxis download site it mentions:
* PBEM: v1.20 Games can not be loaded on earlier versions. Earlier saves can STILL be loaded in v1.20
the other way around...
don't worry about things you have no influence on...
It's at the beginning of the readme that came with the patch. Hopefully PBEM is an exception, but I'm a little worried that they simply copied that line over from the 1.18 readme and forgot to edit it out when they found compatibility problems.
I reread the readme as well. I had missed the big bold text which you quoted Rommel. Strange and confusing that the readme is contradicting itself. I hope the pre 1.20 games can be loaded in which way everyone just simply goes 1.20 in current games.

The Napoleon save looks OK, except for the arrows for techs in the third era that alexman pointed out. I guess the real test would be if Cerb or rickety could open and play my upgraded save ok or not. I'll send it on to ric, but he might not be upgraded yet...
duh, just thought of this- do you have a copy of the turn before you played it? If you play it first with 1.20 then send to me, we should have a good idea if it will go...
This thread is moving quicker than I thought. Missed out on you greetings Paddy. Hadn't thought you'd remember that I followed your game with bongo and Iron Jackson for a while to see how PBEM worked. Currently I'm involved in (almost) 3 PBEM's. I could manage more at the moment, but I think it's better to wait a little longer to have PBEM's in different stages of the game. Unless I get my ass kicked in all of them... Still have to get used not to treat my opponents as AI. Not that familiar with the long term negotiations, but it adds a new dimension to it.
And how're you going Paddy?...

It may be a contradiction, or it may be a disclaimer. i.e You can play old games with the patch, it may be perfectly fine but don't be too surprised if it isn't.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
I take it from the turns being played in this thread that reloading in PBEM isn't a problem, and that its just internet session games that are the problem in this regard?
