  • How fast can you go?

    A little question for you.

How fast is your PBEM in turns per day? I have seen that question here many times, but the answers are at best a qualified guess.

So, if you want some *real* statistics, answer my question I go first.

In my current PBEM we have made 104 turns in 123 days. That's 0.85 turns per day.

We are 4 players in 2 time zones(GMT+1 and GMT+11), a fifth player left early(turn~23) which may have sped things up a bit(he lived in~GMT-7)

I'm in three different PBEM's and IF things are going right, I can get to play a turn in each one once a day.

In one game, I'd say things go right about 90% of the time. In the other two games, I'd estimate about 50% of the time.

In one game, it's not unusual for me not to see a turn for 3 or 4 days.

Ive been playing a game with Paddy the Scot, as a learning game for myself who am new to PBEM.

We started about 15 days ago I think, and weve got to 390AD. Paddy says thats pretty impressive but I can only take his word for that as its the first time Ive played PBEM.

            That's pretty good.

I have some PBEMs that are in the 1 turn in 85 days level.

I agree, 4 players are better then 2 for the dynamics...
yet the 2 player games hoot along....

the best 4 player game turn rate is the game Bongo talks of abaove.

2 other games have come close, but not beaten that rate.

I am in a few 6 and 8 player games... they are slowwwer... but that is to be expected.

I would be interested in a 3 player game. with 3 players that can be online at the same times a few times a week, the turn average should be quite good

I have recently joined a demogame at the gamecatcher forum and we have actually played 46 turns since 1st of march! That's a pretty impressive 1.48 turns per day

My team is the one slowing it down. As we are team sweden, all our member live in the same timezone (GMT+1) , the third save of the day usually comes in an hour after we have gone to bed.

Diplomacy is not as thorough as some of the other demogames I'm involved in..

it is a sad turn of events when sleep gets in the way of good game play

It works both ways I guess. With all 7 members in the same timezone, the game is halted when we sleep/work/study etc. On the plus side, when we do play, we also have enough members present to make important decisions fast.
