forget passwords, you can see other players map anytime

if you play a game and use passwords its a waste of time because after you have your turn all you have to do is dont pass but just go to menu and load the game again it will let you play the turn for the other side and continue playing as single player for either side.
Passwords are pointless ..... this really sucks and makes pbem dead

This is a well known bug of Civ3 PBEM, and it is not even the only way in which you could cheat. All you have to do is to play with non-cheaters. This is what the Apolyton Civ3-PBEM group is for.

The main problem with this cheat is the ability to inadvertantly use it. Until you have conditioned yourself to go through the main menu, and even after that, there is a risk you accidently open a PBEM save game through the in-game menu.

Fortunately this cheat can presumably be solved, the cheat that is most distressing is the ability to reload and replay. Find players you trust and are there for fun and not overly competitive and you should be alright.

Don't get us wrong, we are not happy with these bugs. Fortunately for us the "don't do" bugs can be safely ignored, as long as you play against honest and trustworthy players.

There are far worse bugs that can virtually halt your games, like expiring peace treaties and such. Now these can kill Civ3 PBEM, indeed.
