There are some complications with with lasic, so I will not be around much this week. Heck, I am even wtiting this note and everything is all blurry. Not supposed to lool at a cpmputer screen for more than 5 minutes.... Later. GK

Sadly, this is one of 2 PBEM games I've played in and neither one seems to be moving(1 isn't even starting yet). Downright sad.

Only blind in one eye.

My right eye went fine. The left one however there were some serious complications, and we are working on making sure that I will get my vision back in the eye (let alone having it be 20/20)

The yucky details (don’t read if you get grossed out by medical stuff).

The Lasik procedure involves placing your eye up against a vacuum to keep it from moving. Then, using special tools, they make an incision of about ¾ of a circle. Flip back the portion of the cornea that they cut, stick the laser in, burn, then place the flap back.

In my case, on the left (2nd) eye, the vacuum didn’t hold. My eye moved while the incision was being made. The incision wasn’t a partial circle, it was an oval, and it cut all the way around. The cornea was floating loose. They were able to place a special attachment on the laser to do the burning through the smaller / irregular opening. The success of that portion is yet to be determined, but is believed to be good. Then, they placed the damaged cornea back in place. However, as it was supposed to be ‘hinged’ it might not be back in place correctly. They placed a contact on the left eye for the weekend to act as a band aid. However, that also prohibited the eye from getting the oxygen that it needed.

WHERE I am now: The right eye is almost 20/20. Just give it a bit of healing time (as normal) and we will know for sure. The left eye needs a week or so of healing to see if the lasik took; to see if there are any scars; and all that other fun stuff. Right now, best case is that I get 20/20 in both eyes. Worst is that in the left I will probably have 40/40 or so and need to just go back to wearing glasses. I will only know for sure in about a week.

I still don't have the save btw.
