  • So what was all the bunk about old games not upgrading to 1.22? I just played my last turn with it and everything saved fine...

    • Once a turn is played on 1.22, all the players must use 1.22 too as the sav won't load. And not everybody is ready to install the patch due to some websites limitations.

      • Well I have now dual install as another game started directly on 1.22, so I can play any version.
I vote for 1.22 - the more games updated, the better.

Some people are claiming that 1.15 saves cannont be upgraded to 1.22 unless they were started as a mod, meaning no backward or forward compatability. This must apply to SP only since I played a turn form this game (not the one I sent) and had no problem. Is there anyone not able to play 1.22?

          • Wow! Now this is turning confusing. I have a SP game started on 1.00, and I am finishing it with 1.22... and no troubles.
Of course it does not mean that there could be some problem with some games. Maybe scenarios???
Anyway: if you have been able to load "our" game with 1.22, then there is no trouble with updating

            • I did a dual install but I suppose I'd be happy if it upgraded. Well, not REALLY happy because of city screens being blacked out at the beginning of turns.
I had a single player game from 1.00 that wouldn't load into 1.22.

              • I'm having trouble with another PBEM game. I was using 1.15 and then upgraded to 1.22. The save will not load with 1.22.

                • lm, have you tried playing your last turn from this game with 1.22?

                  • I've already un-installed 1.22.

I'll do a dual install, but not tonight.

                    • So.... who's got the turn, and what's been decided?
If I determine the enemy's disposition of forces while I have no percerptible form, I can concentrate my forces while the enemy is fragmented. • I suppose we were all waiting to see what happens with the other games... looks like people don't dare to use 1.22 except for full new games.
The main problem is the "Radio" tech, it seems it has been removed from the game on 1.22. The most extended fear is what could happen to 1.15 games played on 1.22 when the game reach the point where that tech existed: there seems to be no official answer, if the game can go on or it might become "hanged up".

If no one is able to bring some light upon this, I think we'd better stay on 1.15
                        Any news?

                        • Alexman has theorized that any game where nobody has begun to research radio yet should be able to upgrade, but I have not seen widespread confirmation (or denial) of this. Has anyone been unable to load their last turn from this game under 1.22? It worked fine for me.

At the very least, alexman gave instructions for including the .biq information for radio so that any game can be upgraded. It requires swapping files between upgraded games and normal 1.22 ones, or maintaining a seperate install version.
