Actually I have been in waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to many PBEM's that have died over the years so Im jaded, and dont want to waste my time if something is never going to get played.

as have I. It seems so hard to keep these games going. They always seem to fail for one reason or another.

This one failed early which is a blessing in that not much has been invested yet.

Hey, I only held it for five days. I waited to see if people wanted to continue and then knuckled under.

I can quit if pp want to quit. I can keep playing if people still give a cr@p.

GB its been held up a LOT longer than 5 days. I'm not going to bother to check because its not worth my time and effort but Id bet its close to a month since I have seen a save.

11/9 to 12/12 was the gap between my receipt of games. I would ask snr con to be careful about applying insinuation about game-killing to the appropriate parties. Some of me have thin skins about this as is well known.

Moi considers mon 5 jour wait to see if folks gave an ESS, inconsequential in this regard.

I guess I'm a big dummy.

When I say I'm going to play in a PBEM, I play. When I go more than a few days without playing the save due to work or other reasons, I post in the thread. I never just "disappear" from a PBEM leaving others wondering. When I haven't wanted to continue in a PBEM, I took the initiative to locate my own replacement (WW1 PBEM scenario with Modo44 for example).

I say all this because there are serious problems getting games going and keeping them going. This has been one of the worst in my experience for getting a rhythm going. Its very discourgaging to me. I play no other computer games and I don't know people near me to play civ. So, if I want to play other humans it has to be this form of multiplayer.

I guess this is a long post to express my frustration about the difficulties of PBEM games. I understand the cheating incident in our demogame probably took the winds out of our sails on this particular PBEM. Anyway, this is just my rant, nothing more.
