Congratulations on your new toy, Grandpa Troll. Like one game ad once said: "Say goodbye to your family and friends. You won't be seeing them for a while".

Paddy, do you know the AI difficulty levels in this game?

I have signed a ROP with the Ottomen, to keep one border safe(r).

Prussia and the Ottomen have signed a Mutual Protection Pact.

              March 1800 to Paddy.

Modo, they should be all "ANY" as it is basically the same game as "Gunslingers"

                onto GpT Mar 1800

So, what difficulty did you choose, when starting the scenario? This one will probably apply to everyone with the "any" flag...

Have you ever played in the editor?

there are several areas that you change when setting the ai

                    1. in the Scenario properties - Players
in here you can choose for each ai what level - all the way to SID.
these were deliberatly set at ANY
this allows all level of players to enter the field of battle as equals
thus more experienced players do not get set advantages on KNOWING the oppositions game plays etc
This is the RANDOM setting for each civ

                    2. in the Edit Rules - AI Agression Level
                    this was set at SID

so this way the ai mixes the various tables up, and we are kept on our toes for some time trying to get a grasp on what and where the ai is coming from

                    hope that helps

PS. in starting a scenario you do not get the opportunity to choose which level the game is played at, as you would do in starting an "Epic" game

Every time I try, with different options, the game always defaults to Regent in a scenario. Tried to turn on debug mode, to see how it works, and no options seem to be able to change it.

Remember the Mesoamerican Conquest? To have it at Emperor difficulty, I had to edit the save, after starting the game. No options in the editor worked.

which program did you use to edit the save?

as to the editor we have played many edited scenarios

have a chat with Chrisius about "Its a Mad Word"

another to talk to Chrisius about is "The Silk Road"

Civ3MultiTool, by Gramphos. It crashes sometimes, but only sometimes.

If there is a trick in the editor, I'll find it myself.

The Silk Road is an epic game, right? Those can be set to any level without problems.

I am not a big fan of it

                            Do you like it?

What about it do you like, if so?

I only used it for simple things, like adding advanced units for a quick check of new graphics. Good enough to do that, and I don't need much more. I prefer to play the game.

I made a scenario with default difficulty set to Sid, and all players set to Sid difficulty as well. Started a PBEM with it. Guess what, the AI still has normal Regent production (no bonuses). When I loaded the save in C3MT, the overall difficulty was Regent, and all players had Sid on them. Only after altering the save - changing overall difficulty to Sid - did the production bonus kick in. This means we are playing a Regent AI for most purposes (most important: they have no production bonus).
