Greece is very appreciative of the peaceful nature of the Persian leader. We hope he understands that if Greece had an economy as strong as the Persian one, with just two borders to guard instead of four, we would have desired peace as well.

i already explained this to alex in an email: due to my PTW troubles i'm playing it on a remote server (using VNC), taking me about 2mins per unit/city screen. after firing up the game and seeing the vast number of alex's units, i'll have to play this turn when i've got 2-3 hours of undisturbed highspeed internet access

oh, and one spoiler to the rest of the world: greece's army is best described by following:

          Patience is a virtue.

I assume you know that if you uninstall everything and then install C3C, you will be able to play PTW with the C3C disk though, right?

sorry for the long delay. finally managed to play it. it caused 4 crashes and took me around 3.5 consecutive hours.

After 2 hours I haven't received anything yet - I hope you kept that save!

By the way, have we agreed to battle reports? I think it would be nice to include them.

Catapult fires on 2/3 Pikeman2, miss
                Catapult fires on 2/3 Pikeman2, 1HP damage
4/4 Medieval Infantry kills 1/3 Pikeman1, no HP lost

battle reports are fine for me, although i may have trouble keeping track of all results due to the lag and screen update.

however, i guess we should email the reports to each other instead of them posting here...?

question: anything i can give you for peace? (except resignation? that'll probably follow after your SoD has plowed through my puny army).

and last to everybody: PLEASE HELP!!!

Peace is an interesting option. Greece would certainly consider it, provided her objectives are met.

                      These objectives include:
                      1) The size of Persia must be reduced so that her economy is no longer the most dominant in the world.
                      2) Greece must get a Golden Age.
                      3) Greece must suffer some losses, because our army is currently too large for our Republic to support in peace time.
                      4) Ideally, Greece would like a Great leader to build a Forbidden Palace.
                      5) We must put some fun in what has been a builder game so far.

The last four objectives mean that it would be best to fight for a few turns, but we are certainly not planning to eliminate Persia. In fact, with the strength of the Persian economy and a pending Golden Age, we don't believe it's possible to achieve anything but limited gains in territory.

                      • 1) you mean making greece no 1
                        2) probably this turn
                        3) remove some hoplites. my 2 immortals have a better chance against medinfs ... or uhm, otherwise... ever tried disbanding units?
                        4) that sounds like dozens of battles
                        5) oh, it was enjoyable before

                        • Any update on when you might get PTW working again? If it seems like it'll be a while, is there any chance of finding a temporary replacement player?

                          • not fixed yet, but i'm trying a different solution.
this turn "only" took 1 hour because no battles took place.

uncomfortable to see that you noticed your force is _so_ strong, that you're actually withdrawing 4 swordsmen to upgrade
