Now I just have to learn how to use that password thingie ...
I can currently enter the admin password to change ric's pwd, but then I have to play his turn for him, which i'd probably rather not do Otherwise, i can skip the turn, or send on the admin pwd to ric - or is there a better way to do this that I don't know?

Nope. Using the Admin password forces you to either play his turn or pass it on to the next player.
As far as I'm concerned, if you and he are not in contact - I say play his turn. If both of you do have contact, then you should pass it on. This is how we've played it in the past and it has worked out so far.

Okay, i'll do it that way. I have contact with him, so I'll pass it on. (Not sure how anyone could avoid having contact with anyone at this point in the game, all of us being expansionist and all 
but anywho
