Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I'm best playing in the afternoon and evening, EST. BTW, I am going away tonight for the weekend, and thus won't be able to start until Monday.
I like the idea of a classics game.
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.
Once a pirate always a pirate I say, you scurvy dog you!!!!!!

One can argue this but Agriculture seems to be the stronest trait in CIV III.
Thats why I say lets all be agricultural to balance it out amongst the contestents.
If we go with all military or religious, someone is gonna get agriculture.
And what would you rather be on a normal map, agriculture and religious or religious and seafaring?
If you really have your mind set on some other theme lets just agree on a map that minimizes (Not necessarily negates) the effects of agriculture.
It doesn't matter to me which theme we use. I've already done the seafaring theme (twice actually, though I'm quitting one that has had a whole bunch of fits and starts). I also did the agricultural theme early on but that one died when Dominae left for a while.
I'm up for anything though. 7 civs should be a standard map. If we do all seafaring then I suggest an archipelago map. Anything else should be continents in my opinion. Pangaea's happen too much in PBEM play.
And I would definitely prefer if we can get a map designer. I'd offer, but I'm playing the game so you probably wouldn't want me to design the map . Maybe we can get Sir Ralph to do another one for us.
Age and treachery will ALWAYS defeat youth and skill.
Just remember that punk

What if I have youth, skill AND treachery? You seem to like accusing me of being the pirate in Grand Passage so I must be treacherous.
That's another thing Theseus...occasionally the trash talk from other PBEMs spills into different threads. Conmcb25, Beta, Witt and I are in several PBEMs together.
Now back to our regularly scheduled introduction of Theseus.
I don't mind trash talk... I've been known to let loose a few good ones myself. :;

Age and Treachery go hand in hand because with age you actually get good at it..........

Witt - you seem to be able to play during the day - and soon after me if Grand Passage is any indication.
I'm thinking a framework of:
Beta-Witt-con-Rhoth-MWIA
with Klo and Theseus plugged in where their times make most sense. The other option is to have you play just before or after the other west coaster - Rhoth.
And another trait idea - The Angry Gods. All civs are religious.
Where ever you want to plug my turn order in at is fine with me Beta.
Concerning the civs traits - I'm easy. Whatever trait "theme" we want to use is fine by me also.

On a side note, I just received a second notice from Firaxis asking me to be a beta tester for Pirates! This time they assigned me a login name and password, though I have not, as of yet, been formally accepted into the Betatester pool for Pirates! I'm just wondering if anyone else has received such a message from Firaxis today?

Hi Witt - I was asked the last time around for C3C but declined because of RL time contsraints - but I would love to do it now for pirates. If you want to drop my name in. OTOH - if any of us was to test a game called Pirates, Rhothaerill would be the best choice. Or maybe even his new pirate sidekick, who will rename nameless but is already a prolific poster in this thread.
OK - back to the Game - "Thoughts on Theseus" ...
I'm with Rhoth - no more seafaring. If we use miltraistic or religious - what I was suggesting con is that we do not allow the civs with the other trait as agricultural to be part. Thus, we would exclude the celts for example.
One other idea I had was to do a mod where we all have the same traits. As in a Japan and Shogun thing - or maybe the Zulus - and Out of Africa theme, or Aztecs - as in New American Warlords - or Mongols as in Clash of the Khans.
But Theseus likes the classics idea - and it is HIS game. :ioi: We simply exclude the Agricultural civ. Does that give us enough - yup.
Seven civs, none agricultural, and none seafaring. And all with ancient era UU's. Say a standard size pangaea map. Sir Ralph to set it up to make sure no one gets an island start, or a particularly awful start.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

I'd LOVE to betatest Pirates. That was one of my favorite games back in the late 80's on the old Apple IIe.
