Okay, so I got a delivery failure to ric's address and sent it again with a renamed save and it came right back to me.

Ricketyclik, does your ISP prohibit emails from Comcast?

Anyway, this is what I got both times, only the addresses have been changed.

            [quote]A message (from ) was received at 21 Aug 2004 4:34:47 +0000.

The following addresses had delivery problems:

            Permanent Failure: 550_mail_from_204.127.202.56_rejected:_administrat ive_prohibition
Delivery last attempted at Sat, 21 Aug 2004 04:34:56 -0000

Perhaps the third time was the charm. I renamed it to just "to ric 3950bc.sav" and it appears to have gone through.

Hmm. Had this problem for a few turns in "Classic C3C", which seems to have ceased now. I'm not sure what's going on, but I suspect that my ISP has put in place some sort of new security protocol, and that after a few rejected emails some technician intervenes and tells the servers to accept them.

Would you mind persisting for a few turns, to see if the problem disappears?

[edit: apparently you never ended up putting any of it in your thread, I just remember you asking if you could...]

Since the idea behind a silent PBEM is to mimic the SP experience by eliminating player discussions, I fugure combat reports would be a natural because they fill in the information you would normally see in a SP game but miss because of the PBEM game engine's design. This lost combat information was never intended to be part of the fog of war, it just would have been too much work for Firaxis to modify the original game for PBEM.
Thanks - and yes - I should get back and finish off the info stuff.

I am Ok with the battle reports - if others are. I see the logic in it as you have laid it out. I am easy either way. One of the joys of a silent pbem is that in some ways it is less work. None of the diplomacy stuff - and contacting others via e-mail or PM. Battle reports would be a bit of extra work - albeit - I can't see it being too much until the battles get really large.

How do the rest of you feel about it?

If battle reports are what is eventually agreed on then that's fine. They aren't a part of any of my other PBEMs though so I won't miss it if it isn't wanted.
