Yes, two things which are present in a single player game but absent from the silent PBEM as strictly defined by Beta (this thread will only allow "sent to ABC"): Threats and battle reports.
I think both should be posted here. I thought the main reason for silent PBEMs was to avoid off game agreements i.e. ganging up on people. I see no reason why battle reports or threats should be banned in this thread.
I completely disagree that this thread should be used for anything except 'sent' reports and other admin related discussion;
a) Explicit threats are a minor part of single player games. I consider it micromanagement and only attempt it if in a dire pinch. YMMV, but what you posted above is alot closer to role-playing than the "give tribute or die" option in SP diplomacy.
b) Mandatory battle reports do not belong in a tracking thread. If I attack an oppontent, why should I have to give every other player an account of the location and condition of my troops? This goes against the most basic principle of strategy wargaming.
I wouldn't mind doing either of these via private email, but we're probably better off at this point keeping it simple and leaving everything silent across the board. I see the main purpose of a silent game to be to entirely avoid the messy gray areas of human to human diplomacy like this altogether.Enjoy Slurm - it's highly addictive!
