There is another bug in the game, I have a Russian settler on a hill who cannot build. I can move or fortfy but not build. This in conjuntion with the unprovked Sumer attack on my Ottomans causes me to say F*** it and leave the game. I was shafted at the start by the start location, and it was compouded by everyone else helping Sumeria make it into the Middle Ages while I have yet to get writing.
Seeing that this game no longer is remotely enjoyable I have disbanned all my cities and will be out of the game in 2 turns. The extra land sould be sufficent to ensure the Sumeria/Netherlands combo cruises to an easy victory.

Swissy, I can understand you quitting under the circumstances of not being able to build a town. It was bad luck you having the short end of the land grab stick, and not being able to build a town with a settler is strange indeed. As for Sabre's unprovoked attack, it was going to come sooner or later against either you or me because he would have fallen behind as he had nowhere else to expand. He chose to attack you because my defence is stronger.
However, your accusation about everyone helping Sumeria into the Middle ages is groundless. I am not far behind Sabre in techs, and I don't recall trading any techs with him at all. As far as I can tell, Kermit is also way behind in techs. So, the game is far from over as far as I am concerned. Still, going down without a fight certainly has made it easier for Sabre since he didn't have to expend any units in taking your lands.
Perhaps we shall meet again in another gameSo if you meet me have some courtesy, have some sympathy and some taste

How the heck was I suppose to build defense, I had three cities that would make more than 2 shields per turn. And those three cities were out of squares to work, all the grassland, plaines and hills were being worked already."The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved - loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves."--Victor Hugo

Yes, you're right. There's no doubt you were between a rock and a hard place in this game, with too little space and too much poor terrain. Hopefully your other games are better setup. So if you meet me have some courtesy, have some sympathy and some taste

aqua, your arabs are peaceloving souls... until they've accumulated enough ancient cavalry to overrun the worldand then come the ansars to mop up the rest

does any one else have the settler problem? as i didn't have any space to expand, i'm not really building any settlers anyway. just one new city about 3-4 turns ago and that worked fine...- Artificial Intelligence usually beats real stupidity

wow, 3 weeks!
you can ask for a replacement player in the replacement thread: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...hreadid=112000
however, lots of people are going so chances are slim. maybe ask "bubbles777" or someone else who stepped in for "1889"s games (check his threads).

Yeh, I'm playing for 1889 in one game, so I'll do it if you want(struggling for a nexus there, huh? lol)
Arabs are absolutely peaceloving when compared to SumeriansOh, and there won't be many Ansars if I can't get iron
Why do you think I had to build the SoZ?
Second wonder eh Sabre? Another SGL? Why Sun-Tzu and not the Pyramids? Or is it so obvious I shouldn't ask
By the way, does anyone recall whether corruption in this game was set artifically low? Even under despotism it was pretty small.
