To kenthur/richtur/Milo. Who is he here on Poly anyway? He said richtur, but have not seen a post yet.

Now the question is - who are the 5 who downloaded the save. I was not one of them.

Not sure why you are posting it j. I get it just fine by e-mail.

Interesting question Beta. I did not either. I suppose we can wait for someone to open it and post some DARs. But we might be waiting for a while.

          A-a-a-h-h-h, here we are.

I sent my simple little turn on.

Sure wish there was a way to get some of these early years out of the way with a brief online MP, then switch PBEM when things get hairy or complex. A 2 hour session get get us thru WEEKS of these do-nothing turns. Bet alot more players would then hang in there until much later i the games.

BTW: is this contest for the ladder or just practice?

Sent to richtur. Yes - it would be good to co-ordinate a time to zip through a handful of turns and get us into a more interesting period.

I agree. It is sooo much handier to be on Turn 20 than turn 5. There are units then.

He, he.....I'm puttering through the last several weeks before retirement. (Please go easy on gramps when those units arrive.) I can do a few turns practically anytime you guys want to arrange it.

                Sent, by the way.

                  Online, realtime session

Hot dang! Let's do a live session.
Q is, can the game do it?

If so, we're all here in No.Amer so shouldn't be too hard to find a mutually good time. I am VERY flexible since i'm self-employed-work-from-home-single kinda guy (lady friends & clients just have to understand there are priorities in life).

Name a time & i'll be there. IF the system can do it. Hell i'd be willing to restart if we have to, in order to get 20-40 quick turns of no contact. nearly no-brainer turns. Heck i'd think an hour & we'd be weeks ahead of PBEM 's pace.

We would need to agree to stop & go PBEM as soon as:
                  a) 1st contact or...
                  b) we get too many units or...
                  c) negotiations commence (or get too heavy)

Since we're all NOT into being speed freaks, we could do turn based, slow timer setting. "Slow" is a very relative term obvious, compared to PBEM pace.

If this is possible, we could be on to something that PBEM could really use.

I do not think that it is possible to convert between MP and PBEM.

However, it is possible to coordinate times and then eMail the turns as usual. I had one the last week where a couple of us were actually getting the file turned around in about 4 minutes. Realistically it should take longer than that, but with 4 people you should be able to knock out about 3-4 turns an hour.

This works well if the players are crazy enough. We had a group of 4 guys that were doing 5 or 6 turns a day starting about 3.30pm workdays. Straight email is ok when everyone is around and expects the turn soon. You can also play even more quickly by posting saves to the thread and alt-tabbing between the thread and the game.

I tried to check on the 'jump-start' idea of doing online start and then switching over to PBEM last year. At the time, someone told me this was possible going from live MP to PBEM but not the other way 'round. I never did get around to trying it out. I'm not sure I can bypass my firewall as easily anymore, but it might be worth a try...

We were thinking of getting together for an accelerated session. I could do a few turns sometime on the weekend if everyone wants to jumpstart this game.

Let me propose Saturday morning as a time when we all monitor our email and look for the chance at fast turns. If you can do this and get this message, it would be helpful to post agreement so we are all encouraged to give it a shot.
